Tony Liddle's "THE LOWES LAST STAND"
This compilation disc, has been put together to help raise
funds to preserve and ultimately help restore 'The Lowe Stand' at Hoyland Barnsley, which was built around 1750. The stand
most likely served as a Huntsman's lodge and observation point during local hunts. Built on a parcel of land, to which the
stand may owe it's name ('Lowe' - the Norman word for 'Hill') towers over 600 feet above sea level, and is stated to be one
of the highest points from Hoyland, eastwards to the North Sea.
The views from old graveyard alongside the stand are spectacular.
Please check out The Friends of Hoyland Lowe Stand web site
for more information. www.lowe-stand.org.uk.
All profits from the sale of the cd will be donated to help
save Hoyland Lowe Stand.
