Welcome
The truth is, if you've clicked onto this website, you already know
something about Hoyland's most recognised landmark - Lowe Stand.
If not, then feel free to click on the History section of this site, and delve into the history and facts of the stand.
The Friends of Hoyland Lowe Stand are committed to promote further awareness of the landmark and raise funds, which hopefully
in turn, can be used to protect it's future and also start on a long journey of perhaps one day, restoring Hoyland's pride...
Our Aims.......
- To increase awareness of the landmark - locally & nationally.
- To protect the landmark from a sale that wouldn't benefit the Stand.
- To protect the landmark from decay and potential collapse.
- To work with Barnsley MBC to ensure the interests of the Stand always come first if any adjacent land to it is sold
etc.
- And Finally....To one day hopefully restore it...
Lowe Stand, Hoyland, Barnsley >>>>
Built around 1750 for the Marquis of Rockingham - for the probable use as a hunting lodge.

PLANNING IS UNDERWAY!
Plans are currently being drawn up to enable The Trust to apply for permission
to begin Phase One of the re-build.
Phase One will be the partial re-build of the existing tower, HeliBar stitching and
hidden roof coverings to both towers to enable The Stand to become water-tight for the first time in nearly 100 years.
Covering up the roofs of the two towers will help slow down the decay to the physical structure and prevent rainfall
washing out the cavity in-fill of the stonework.
It is hoped, that if the process flows smoothly, there may be a
chance of starting the works this year.
