May 2010 - Another Great STARS Night! Many thanks to the wonderful STARS IN OUR EYES group for another fanatastic show and a great fundraiser.  The event was held at the Hoyland Nether WMC on Broad St, Hoyland on Sat 15th May and attracted a great crowd.  Many thanks to the club as well for staging the event and helping the group raised over £600 towards restoring the Stand.  Thanks also to the Group members who played their part on the night.

Mar 2010 - Security Fencing in place The security fence around Lowe Stand has now been put in place - well done to Jack Elliott for doing a good job.  See the photos of the fence being put up HERE.

Mar 2010 - Great Donation! We are delighted to report that Hartwood Estates http://hartwoodestates.com/home.html have made a £1,000 donation to Lowe.  Many thanks to this local firm.

Mar 2010 - Easter Fayre Success! click for larger image Despite the poor weather, people still made the effort to come to our first Easter Fayre on Sat 20 March - a big thankyou to all those who came and partcipated in the Easter Crafts, supporting the stalls and taking some refreshments... There are pictures of the event on the Gallery page.  The raffle result numbers will be in the gallery too - The Rabbits name was "JEDI" and the number of Eggs in the Jar was 247 (yes, quite a lot) - the nearest guess was 249.

Feb 2010 - Stars in Our Eyes - Super Night! click to see larger image For the secod time, the Stars in Our Eyes group gave us a night to remember - on Feb 20th in front of a sell-out audience, they performed and we raised a great deal of funds for the Lowe Stand cause. Thanks to everyone who was involved, whether as a volunteer helper, sponosr or attendee - your efforts and cash were most appreciated.  ANd thanks again to the Belmont club for hosting this event. Nov 09 - Christmas Fayre a great success! Raffle Draw Numbers Click to see larger The Christmas Fayre held at St Andrew's Parish Hall on Saturday 28th November was a huge success.  Thanks to everyone who was involved, whether as a volunteer helper, sponosr or attendee - your efforts and cash were most appreciated.  Special thanks to Clive Smith for bringing the two reindeer, Garrie Dearden for 'supplying' Santa and Granville D Clarke for making an appearance and doing the raffle draw.  The raffle results are in the image right - click to see larger view.  If you think you've won and you haven't been contacted by a Lowe Stand Group member by 9 December, then please contact us at info@lowe-stand.org.uk. The winner of the Name the Reindeer was Madison who correctly chose "Snowflake". A gallery of pictures from the fayre can be seen on the Gallery page. Sept 09 - Charity Status Granted! Charity status has now been granted to the Friends group... registered charity number is 1131613.

Jul 09 - Stars in Our Eyes event - A Major Success! click to see larger image An excellent night of entertainment was enjoyed by all who attended the Stars in Our Eyes night at the Hoyland Town Belmont WM Club on Sat 25th July.  The generosity of all who went to the show, and/or bought raffle tickets before and during the show and supported the tombola on the night - this all helped raise nearly nearly £1,100 for Hoyland Lowe Stand, a tremendous amount! Thankyou to all for your support! And thanks to the many buisnesses that helped and contributed gifts for the raffle including The Belmont Club, The Hoyland King St Co-op, Cottage Flowers, Ardsley House Hotel, Barnsley Bowl, M&S, Walkers Newsagents, Spohisticutz etc etc!  See also section on Supporters page. Jul 09 - Mayor visits the 'Stand' Not Lowe Stand... but he did visit our gala stand at Tankersley & Pilley gala on July 4th.  The mayor, councillor Ken Sanderson, accompanied by his wife, stopped and chatted a while and took a great interest in what we were doing.  Hopefully, a new supporter for the cause! click for larger image

Apr 09 - Lowe Stand sealed Following further damage inside the stand, agreement was reached with Barnsley council to seal the Stand - this was done by the Friends over the weekend of 4/5 April with some large metal sheets put over the main opening and the small window.

Apr 09 - Charity Registration Application Underway Work is continuing by The Trust to become a Registered Charity. Becoming a Registered Charity will help the Trust apply for more Grants and Funding from various sources, and will obviously show people and businesses that The Hoyland Lowe Stand Trust are a group determined to see through the process of Renovating the stand.

Mar 09 - Grant Received for Feasibility Report Great news, a grant has been received for £633 allowing us to get the feasibility report actioned for saving and restoring Hoyland Lowe Stand.  The report is now underway and hopefully will be ready in early summer!

Mar 10 - New Galleries! New galleries featuring the Stars night in Feb, the Easter Fayre in March, and the Fencing of the Stand in March now showing HERE.

Dec 09 - New Gallery! A new gallery showing pictures from the 2009 Christmas Fayre is now showing HERE.

Dec 09 - New Patrons Page! Hoyland Lowe Stand is lucky to have 3 high profile patrons supporting the cause.  See some details of the patrons on our new page HERE.

Sept 09 - New School Sub-Site! Hoyland Common Primary School are our first sub-site - see the new site HERE with details of the first art and poetry competition.

August 09 - New Art gallery added! A new Art gallery has been added to showcase your drawings and paintings of Lowe Stand.  Initially showing are 3 paintings by Barbara Adderley.  Why not send us yours.

July 09 - New gallery added! New gallery added featuring photos from the Stars in Our Eyes event on Saturday 25th July - very successful fund raising event for us, thanks to Belmont Club.

July 09 - New shop now open! See the new SHOP sub-site - featuring all our souvenirs including the new glossy A3 sized calendar!

May 09 - New Gallery and Video added See the Gallery page for a new gallery of computer generated photos of how a restored Lowe Stand might look.  This has been put together by Steve Hyde.  Also a short video is there too showing a quick video trip around the outside of the tower.  Well worth a look all of these.

Apr 09 - New Video added A new video has been added to the Gallery page - featuiring a slideshow to music of the sealing of the stand.  This is now on You Tube.

Apr 09 - New Gallery added A new gallery has been added showing the sealing up of the stand and the initial uncovering of the old floor. See Gallery page.

Apr 09 - Consultation form (page) added The public consultation exercise regarding Lowe Stand is now underway.  Complimenting the paper form excercise being undertaken at the galas, race nights etc, there is an on-line form available now available HERE for a couple of months - please fill in and share your opinions.

Apr 09 - News Page update The news page has been split into a news column and an events column - the events column will show the future events planned by the Friends and be a record of events past.

Sat 15th May 2010 -Stars in Our Eyes night! click to see larger Join us on a very entertaining night out at Hoyland Nether WMC, Broad St Hoyland with the visit to Hoyland of the fantastic Stars in Our Eyes group. These guys never fail to entertain in a mixed show featuring all types of music and people from 'Elvis' to 'Dusty' and from 'Dolly Parton' to 'Tony Bennett'... There will also be a tombola, raffle and other club activities - it all promises to be a memorable night out.  Doors open at 6.30pm, Stars show starts at 8.00pm.  Tickets available from the club at only £2.00.  See you there on the 15th.   Also Hoyland Town Centre stall - Sat morning 15th May between 8.00am and 12.30pm - outside the Beggar And Gentlemen pub on Market St.

Sat 24th April 2010 -Birdwell Gala! See our stall at the Birdwell Gala on Sat 24th - we shall have a tombola and be able to answer any and all questions about Hoyland Lowe Stand and the group.

Sat 27th Mar 2010 - Lowe Stand Benefit Night at the Monkey Pub! click to see larger Join us on what should be a very entertaining night at the Monkey Pub in Thurgoland.  An evening of fun and entertainment featuring a Quiz, Lowe Stand presentation, raffle, hot food and a magic show by local magician Andy Bedford!

Sat 20th Mar 2010 - EASTER FAYRE! click to see larger Come see the big bunny at our Easter Fayre - St Andrews Church Hall on Saturday 20th March.  Lots of stalls featuring Easter Crafts, collectables, face painting, tombolas - childrens and adults as well as cakes and refreshments.  If you liked our Christmas Fayre - you should like this one!

Sat 20th Feb 2010 - Stars in Our Eyes! click to see larger Join us again for another fantastic Stars in Our Eyes show.  This great troupe will be back again at the Hoyland Belmont WM Club (West St Hoyland) on Staurday 20th Feb 2010 looking and sounding like the stars of now and yesteryear!  This is a great night out and only £2 each, with all proceeds going to help save Lowe Stand.

Thu 4 Feb 2010 - Springfield Ladies! Presentation to the Springfield Ladies on the subject of Lowe Stand.

Sat 23 Jan 2010 - History Day! See at at our stall at the Barnsley History Day at the Town Hall, Sat 23 Jan 10am-4pm.

Thu 17th Dec - Christmas Fayre! Join us at the Hoyland Common Primary School Christmas Fayre!

Sat 28th Nov - Christmas Fayre! click to see larger Join us for our very first Christmas Fayre! Come and see Santa and a live reindeer, and enjoy all sorts of festive stalls and fair including a Christmas stall, Sweet Stall, games, cake stall, face painting and much much more.  Also refreshments and festive food available. It will be fun for people of all ages!

Sat 21st Nov - Race Night at the Ship Inn click to see larger Join us for a race night at the Ship Inn Worsbrough - a great evening of fun starting with the first race at 8pm.

Sat 31st Oct - Ghost Walk click to see larger Join Katie Sweetman and look for ghosts in Elsecar on this Halloween Ghost Walk on Sat 31st Oct.  Tickets are £5 and all proceeds will go to the Lowe Stand funds. Tickets are available from Cloud 9 on King St or can be bought at the event on the night.  Anyone can attend and should meet in the Elsecar Heritage Car Park at 7.30pm on 31st Oct.  The walk will begin at 8pm and last til midnight.

Sat 25th July - Stars in Our Eyes click to see larger See the Stars in Our Eyes group perform at the Belmont Club in West St, Hoyland.  Tickets are only £2 and proceeds go towards saving Lowe Stand.  Also big raffle on the night - buy tickets from our galas or Hoyland town centre stalls, from group members or Belmont Club itself.

Sat 4th July - Tankersley & Pilley Gala Come join us at the gala in Pilley Pocket Park from 1pm.  We will have lots of info and a gallery of Lowe Stand shots as well as a tombola, and postcards, badges, and keyfobs for sale - also see our new 2010 calendar!

Sun 28th June - Kirk Balk Gala Come join us at the Kirk Balk gala at Kirk Balk school 11am - 3pm.  We will have lots of info and pictures of Lowe Stand, as well as a tombola, and postcards, badges, and keyfobs for sale - also see our new 2010 calendar!

Sat 27th June - Charisma Bar Race Night click to see larger Join us for another 'race' meeting at the Charisma Bar, Market St, Hoyland. 8 races (at least) with £1 a bet stakes! First race soon after 8pm.  If you haven't done one before come along - it's fun!

Sun 17th May - Birdwell Club Race Afternoon Join us for another 'race' meeting at Birdwell club - this time an afternoon of fun starting at 5.00pm - same format as the race night though - 8 races (at least) with £1 a bet stakes!  If you haven't done one before come along - it's fun!

Sat 16thMay - Hoyland Town Centre Join us in Hoyland Town Centre (opposite the Charisma club, outside the Beggar & Gentleman pub), where we will have a stall, selling souvenirs of the Stand, running a tombola and most importantly getting the community to fill in our consultation forms - come give us your honest views on the Hoyland Lowe Stand!  We are there from 8am until about 1pm.

Sat 25th April - Birdwell Gala We will have a stand at the gala again this year - come see us and buy some souvenirs of Lowe Stand!

Fri 10th April - Market Hotel RACE NIGHT Join us for another Friend's race night - this time at the Market Hotel, Wentworth Road in Elsecar - on Good Friday April 10th - first race at 6pm- early start but will lots of fun...!

Fri 20th March - Hoyland Common RACE NIGHT Come join us for another Lowe Stand Race Night.  The second one this year will be held at The Hoyland Common Working Men's Club, Fitwilliam St in Hoyland Common on Friday 20th March, 2009.  First Race starts around 8pm, so get there in plenty of time to secure bets and good seats!

Fri 6th February - Royal Albert RACE NIGHT The Lowe Stand Race Nights continue into 2009.  The first of many this year, will be held at The Royal Albert public house, Wentworth Road in Blacker Hill, on Friday 6th February, 2009.  First Race starts around 8pm, so get there in plenty of time to secure bets and good seats!
